Tarot Forecast Jan 6th to 12th 2025

Tarot for the Collective

Hello, friends!

It’s the first Tarot Forecast of 2025, and with it, a tweak of title.

When I first birthed Creative Soul Tarot, the majority of my clients were creatives like me. However, over the past couple of years, my client base has expanded beyond the world of creatives, so to be more inclusive, it’s simpler to call my weekly readings as tarot forecasts—in essence; Tarot for the Collective, so along with a new year, there’s a new title!

Ah, January. It’s good to see you. I know many dread this month, but it’s one of my favourites with all its ‘new beginnings’ energy. Spring is hovering in the wings (although the sideways rain we’ve had here for the last few days says otherwise) and with the madness of the holiday season now gone, it’s time to look ahead.

As many of us are working on goals, intentions, and maybe even new year resolutions at this time, I’m asking the cards the following questions this week: What energy should I work with, What challenge lies ahead, How can I overcome it?

The Hanged One, 9 of Cups, 8 of Cups. Deck: Earth Woman Tarot

While we may be chomping at the bit to get stuck into this new year, The Hanged One tells us to hang back for a while. Sit tight, it says, observe and learn before you jump in. A new perspective is needed and once it’s found, you’ll know which direction to take. There’s a good chance you have a skewed aspect of a situation, so hit pause and allow things to unfold for a while.

Another aspect of this card is sacrifice. In order to achieve a win, something must be given up. Consider what you might be clinging to at this time; a relationship, a stance, a belief, a process? In your heart of hearts you know it’s best to let it go, but stubbornness—or perhaps fear—keeps your grip firm. The ‘waiting around’ energy of The Hanged One can be frustrating, but it will give you the space to get a clearer view of what’s unfolding, so hang on in there, it’ll be worth the wait—or the sacrifice!

“Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control of what you do have power over instead of craving control over what you don’t.” - Steve Maraboli

The 9 of Cups is the card of ‘Wishes Granted’ and in the Challenge position, it brings frustration and lack. Non-achievement raises a challenge. New year, new goals, new inspiration, and lots of drive to succeed with it, but something’s blocking your progress and instead of galloping towards the horizon, you’re hobbling.

With The Hanged One’s influence, the message here is that goals aren’t manifesting for a reason and you need to discover why. Confirming the lack of movement, the figure in this card is sitting, not running celebratory laps through her field of toadstools and cups. I’m also drawn to the moon cycle above her head, another message about biding time to allow things to unfold. Progress is slow, maybe even non-existent. With wishes not being granted, the chances are, you’re on the wrong path.

An alternate horizon is calling!

The 8 of Cups calls for moving on; leaving something behind for the better good. It’s a sharp echo of the sacrifice message from The Hanged One, and confirms the blockages surrounding the 9 of Cups. Despite how good a situation may appear to be, to prevent heartache, it’s best to take a new direction. Whatever you’re striving towards needs a careful second look. Pull back to view the entire landscape. What are you missing? What is not aligning for you? Walking away may sting, but once you do, the change will restore flow.

The Hanged Man asks you to suspend activity. The 9 of Cups screams frustration over blocked manifesting. The 8 of Cups calls for moving on. In summary, despite best intentions and high hopes, a current path is leading nowhere. Pull back, examine the landscape, and the pesky blockage will soon come to light. Once identified, you’ll reset the sat nav and restore flow!

While it would have been lovely to hear that we’re already kicking ass and taking names for 2025, it appears we have some necessary readjusting to do. I have no doubt that a direction reset will get that manifesting energy flowing once more. Have an enlightening week!
