Hello, Creatives!
The moon is currently in a Waxing Gibbous phase placing us in a space where refinement, endurance, and celebration will benefit our creative processes. This week’s spread hits on all three themes by asking; What needs refining, What will benefit from greater effort, What is working?
Rivalry is the theme of the 5 of Wands, bringing an energy of challenge and competition. Within creativity, this often appears as comparing work/talent/success to others, and slipping into a mindset where creativity can be ruled by ego. Competition can be a good thing, but only when it’s contained within a healthy framework where the challenge increases motivation and the desire to grow and learn. If competition is fought simply to best another and be the winner, motivation is skewed by ego. Examine your perceived rivals this week. Consider how they motivate your creativity. Does it feel positive or negative? Refine your thought processes behind who or what inspires or drives your desire to succeed. Reframe it as learning from their success, as opposed to grabbing their crown. There’s room for everyone.
“Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive because your behavior becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.” – Mahatma Ghandi
The Lovers encapsulate perfect harmony, a blissful union that promotes creativity. They also represent our values and morals, and sometimes, a significant choice that needs to be made. As a signifier of what will benefit from greater effort, The Lovers call for a check-in of personal values and how they align with what you’re doing right now. Is there a misalignment between what you value and how you’re behaving? Consider too your personal and business relationships; are they in harmony? Which ones would benefit from more of your time and effort?
The rivalry of the 5 of Wands pops up here, too, suggesting an examination of who or what challenges us, and how that may be butting against our values. In relation to the choice aspect of this card, if you’re facing a major decision, it’s time to stop avoiding the matter. Take the time to seriously consider your options. Overall, whether one, two, or all of The Lovers’ aspects resonate with you, your focused attention is required. Tackle the issue head on, and that blissful Lovers union will return.
It’s time to celebrate accomplishment! The 2 of Wands is the card of progress and achievement. It brings a rousing chorus of applause for work already done, and asks that you acknowledge these achievements. Although you may feel you’re only at the early stages and a long road lies ahead, celebration is not only healthy, but inspires and motivates. Again the 5 of Wands butts in, confirming that you’ll better serve yourself by celebrating your wins instead of focusing on others. We’re each at our own mile, so put your energy into your journey, and not how you can mimic another’s. Appreciate every milestone you’ve reached. A journey is made of many steps, so teach yourself to acknowledge each one and how they all build to form success.
This deck always delivers a meaty message, and this one is no exception. With The Lovers in the centre, we’re called to examine a few key areas in our lives. What aspect of this card resonates with you the most?
