Hello, Creatives!
It’s a new week, and almost a new month! As June nears, we approach the halfway point of 2024. How are your goals coming along? What are you nurturing right now with a view to harvesting in the next quarter? While I’m not focusing on a check in for this week’s reading, I will be diving into it for the next Tarot for Creatives, so if you can find a few quiet moments over the next while, have a think about your progression so far; your wins, challenges, and things you’d like to change.
Onto this week’s reading. No questions for the cards today, I’ll let them tell the story.
A reversed Emperor brings a number of different faces:
A chill leader who’s happy to give everyone the space to do their own thing; someone who is losing control and struggling to keep everything from falling apart; a person who stubbornly rebels against authority figures; and finally, someone who lacks maturity and runs away from responsibility.
Which of these aspects resonates with you most right now? With so many different views of this reversed card, it can be tricky to pinpoint.
But, looking ahead, the industrious 8 of Pentacles and innocent Fool await, bringing themes of industriousness and a leap of faith. The reversed Emperor may therefore indicate an energy of stubbornness, where, potentially against advice, we take matters into our own hands and brave the unknown. Are you considering breaking into new creative territory? Perhaps you’re bored of current processes, or they’re no longer working as efficiently. Maybe you’ve outgrown a project and wish to shift towards something new? Whatever stirs this reversed Emperor energy, acknowledge it—even if it’s running from responsibility. Once you’ve identified the aspect at play, you can then make an informed decision about how to proceed.
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”
— Dr. Seuss
The 8 of Pentacles brings hard work, progress, and enjoyment. It often represents an apprentice, so the learning of a new skill may be incoming.
Pride comes with this card. This is someone who rolls up their sleeves, gets stuck in, and through hard work and dedication, delivers amazing results. Reflect on where the reversed Emperor may have inspired this action, and what you’ve learned from it.
Attention to detail is important when this card pops up, so even if you aren’t diving into a new skill or project, stay alert with current projects and business dealings. With the reversed Emperor at play, it could be that something is falling apart without your knowledge, so keep your focus sharp.
The Fool leaps in next, waving a farewell as they launch themselves into a grand adventure. After the success of the 8 of Pentacles, you may find yourself faced with new opportunities, and even though you may not have all the details worked out, you’re raring to go!
The Fool is the first card of the tarot deck, indicating an exciting journey lies ahead. You’ve got the skills and talent to take you far, but as this is such a new venture, wisdom may be absent, so remember to keep the focus of the 8 of Pentacles as you bound along.
Again, the reversed Emperor echoes within this card and can’t be ignored, so reflect on whether you’re leaping to avoid something or someone else. Could responsibility or an authority figure lie behind the urge to flee? As the opening card, The Emperor holds a strong influence over this reading, so keep all the facets of his reversed energy in mind as you consider the Fool’s invitation.
Are we shirking responsibility and authority figures, or moving out of our comfort zones to try exciting new things this week? Maybe it’s both!
Overall, the message to stay alert trickles through the reading, so whether we’re avoiding or leaping, we need to keep our eyes open.
Have a great week, Creative Souls. There’ll be no reading next week as it’s the June bank holiday and I’ll be away roaming the wilds of Co. Kerry with friends. I’ll be back on June 10th!
