Tarot for Creatives Jan 3rd to 9th 2022

Hello my creative friends, and welcome to the first #tarotforcreatives reading for 2022!

I thought 2020 was a fast year, but 2021 was a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’. I know we all came into 2021 with the hope of it being a better year in terms of the pandemic, and unfortunately, that hasn’t changed with the arrival of 2022, but I’m hanging on to my optimistic mindset!

Yesterday was the first New Moon of 2021, and with so many on a resolution buzz, the desire to manifest is high. Whatever your beliefs when it comes to New Year Resolutions, I feel that manifesting energy has double strength right now, so I was delighted to see The Sun appearing as the first card of this new year.

The Sun, 5 of Wands, and Ace of Pentacles

I’m using the Mind, Body, Spirit spread this week, and here’s what the cards have to say about the days ahead.

We couldn’t have asked for a better start to this week’s reading. The Sun shines its radiant light of vitality and warmth onto our logical side, and with its theme of positivity, it’s such a perfect card for the start of a new year. With yesterday’s New Moon energy, and the worldwide rituals of creating resolutions, The Sun confirms the time is now for making plans. Bringing a message of abundance and success, you can be sure that creative inspiration abounds with an almost childlike sense of freedom. With that childlike energy in mind, keep it simple and fun. Don’t be too adult and/or practical with your plans right now, just go with the flow and embrace the inspiration. You’ll have time to whittle it down and get more realistic in due course. The Sun loves the word YES! so if you’re picking over opportunities or ideas, why not say yes and see where it takes you? Overall, The Sun has us radiant with abundant and creative energy, so enjoy every minute!

"Simplicity is the glory of expression." - Walt Whitman

Conflict is the theme of the 5 of Wands, and it perfectly embodies the tricky side to an abundance of inspiration. With lots of new plans being made, there may be so many opinions and ideas coming at you that you feel like you’re not being heard, or can’t hear yourself think. Caught in this muddle, frustration rises, and you might find the shine taken off that lovely Sun energy. But there’s no need to fight, my friends. Instead, take action by allowing each voice a turn, and if it’s just your own hectic thoughts in a muddle, aim for clarity by writing them down. While it’s great to be bombarded with ideas and inspirations, too much clamour will smother your creative flow, so make space and time to restore simplicity.

The Ace of Pentacles brings a new financial opportunity, but to benefit, you’ll need to move past the muddle of the 5 of Wands. Once you do, you’ll arrive at a fresh starting point to consider your new goals. Just like The Sun, the Ace brings a message of prosperity and abundance, and with the earthy energy of Pentacles, this reflects in the material aspects of life. To get the best out of Ace energy, don’t forget to move past the ‘thinking’. It’s vital to get ‘doing’ if you want to succeed!

Overall, a week of creative inspiration lies ahead, but we might find it coming so thick and fast that we can’t think straight. We might also find ourselves overwhelmed by it, too. It’s one thing to make plans and resolutions, but another to act upon them. To encourage progression, keep things simple.

Have a great first week to 2022!
