Tarot for Creatives February 20th to 26th 2023

Hello, Creatives!

Welcome to a new week! I had an intuitive nudge to read for creative blocks today. It’s not something I’m tangling with right now personally, but I hope the reading will benefit anyone who may be. The reading asks: Source of the block, How to overcome it, What you’re not seeing.

Tarot cards on a table with crystals and a plant
5 of Cups, Queen of Pentacles, 9 of Cups. Deck: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Tarot

I’m working with a brand new deck this week. A very dear friend gave it to me as a birthday gift, and I can’t tell you how excited I was when I opened the package. As a huge Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan, and of course a tarot lover, finding the two combined has me all sorts of giddy.

Our reading opens with the 5 of Cups. The card of partial loss, it indicates regret is behind current creative blocks. With this card, the message is typically dependant on what other cards lie beside it, and in this case, we’ve got the shrewd and creative Queen of Pentacles. This means the time for wallowing in whatever didn’t go your way is over. Stand up, my friend, brush yourself down, and move on. Note how three of the chalices in the image have tipped over, but two remain upright, and in fact, Buffy is already refilling one. All is not lost. Yes, some aspects did not go your way, but you’re succeeding with others, and any ideas brewing right now should be explored as they hold potential. Have you learned a lesson from the loss experienced? Have you gained valuable wisdom? If so, bank that knowledge and take inspiration from the Queen of Pentacles who has lots of creative energy waiting.

“Resourcefulness is the cure to failure. Successful people are resourceful and find a way to make it work.” - Tony Robbins

When it comes to nurturing creative projects, making smart business moves, and handling finances, there’s no better energy than the Queen of Pentacles. Resourceful is a key word of this card, so once you’ve dealt with moving on from the 5 of Cups, its time to lift the lid on your war chest and remind yourself of the tools you have to hand. Abundance also comes with this card, so expect lots of inspiration as you move ahead. While the loss experienced in the 5 of Cups may have put a dent in your confidence, the Queen is here to reassure that you’ll overcome the block by maintaining trust in your abilities.

The 9 of Cups brings the reading to a close with an uplifting and positive message. This is the card of wishes granted, and typically indicates getting everything your heart desires. By overcoming the loss of the 5 of Cups, and working with the nurturing energy of the Queen, many aspects will align in the best possible way. Work with your intuition at this time. Listening to gut instinct and working from a heart-centred place will keep you on the up. Celebration and happiness comes with this card too, so expect good times with friends and family, along with lots of well-wishes!

To get the best from the 9 of Cups, sit in silence with your desires for a while. Form a clear picture of what you want to achieve, allow the image to flesh out in sound, colour, and emotion. Place yourself firmly in the reality, then release your desire to the Universe. Trust in how it will manifest the desire into your life.

Although the week may start with a sense of defeat, with the Queen of Pentacles and 9 of Cups, brighter days are ahead. Shake off the loss and refocus with nurturing Queen energy. Take a moment to sit with the 9 of Cups energy and wallow in the uplifting energy of achieving your desires.
