Hello, Creatives!
Welcome to the final Tarot for Creatives for 2022. I’m taking a wee break from the blog, weekly reading, and newsletter, but will return on Monday, 9th January for business as usual.
Before I get into the reading, I want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported my first year of business with Creative Soul Tarot. In that time, I’ve published 90 blogs and sent out 45 newsletters. I’ve also had the pleasure of connecting with lots of you for readings, many of whom are now repeat clients. Thank you! I also want to mention those who gave their time and energy to write guest blogs. It was great to work with you, and it’s such a thrill to have your beautiful articles on the site. Although I’ve been reading tarot for almost a decade, the shift to an online platform altered my tarot landscape, and while it’s been a steep learning curve in some aspects, overall, it has without doubt, been a fun and engaging experience, and one which I’m looking forward to building upon. I’m so grateful to everyone who emails in response to the newsletters and blogs, especially those who share their experiences, request spreads, or suggest a blog topic. Keep those comments and suggestions coming! I want to ensure that I’m delivering engaging and insightful content, and am always open to hearing your thoughts.
What’s brewing for 2023? Well, I’m in the final stages of an exciting new project which I’ll announce via the blog and newsletter. I’ll drop a hint by sharing that it’s connected to tarot journaling . . . but I’ll reveal all soon. With subscriber numbers rising, along with requests for online tarot classes, I’ll be looking into that possibility for 2023, too. But rest assured, whatever develops within Creative Soul Tarot, newsletter subscribers will be the first to hear. Now, onto the reading!
The Winter Solstice approaches. This Wednesday, December 21st, is the shortest day of the year. With themes of retreat and reflection, this week’s reading is the Reflect, Release, Set spread, to encourage reflection on your past year, energies to release, and intentions to set for your better good.
The Chariot gallops in, carrying themes of control, willpower, and victory. A powerful card for the Reflect position, it asks you to look back on where you wielded control and gained victory through your willpower in 2022. One of the lessons of the Chariot is working with opposing forces, so think back to occasions where you dealt with a difficult situation by turning it into something positive. Some might call it sheer pigheadedness, but whatever label you slap on it, your unshakeable determination brought success. Can you identify those moments and events? Such deep reflection may demand journaling, so take your time equating Chariot energy to your 2022 victories. Once you do, reflect on how that willpower served you, and how you can carry that skill into 2023 and future creative projects.

For Release, the Queen of Wands appears. This card indicates an energy of exuberance, determination, and the ability to draw upon the self for inspiration and skill. The Queen is a strong, independent force who sustains her creative vision no matter the challenges thrown in her path. She brings confidence, instilling a deep self-assurance that you can achieve anything you set out to do.
So why would we want to release such an inspiring energy? Because sometimes, the Queen burns herself out. She can be stubborn, and cling to an idea or dream for too long, refusing to accept it’s no going her way. With the headstrong energy of the Chariot, the indication is that this may well be the case. Are we invincible? Unfortunately not, so the message here is to ease yourself out of this obstinate mindset. Hold courage to your chest and admit what’s not working. It may be a physical project, or an intangible mindset, but if you can pinpoint where that Queen energy has embedded itself to the point of no return, you’ll know where to start.
The Page asks you to listen to your heart's desire.
With a clearer head, intention setting comes next. The Page of Pentacles guides you along the way, encouraging you to dream big and manifest—which is just what the Queen did—but with a more youthful, curious, and less ‘responsible for the entire kingdom’ mindset. The Page pares back the exuberant Queen. It asks for a foundation of carefully laid plans and grounded, practical thinking. It also asks for you to narrow down your vision. What do you desire? Are your hopes tangled up with the goals of others, or do you create with another’s vision in mind? If so, the Page demands you answer your heart’s desire—no-one else’s.
While the Queen represents fulfilment and the nourishment of dreams, the Page brings the initial motivation and energetic forces needed to realise those dreams. It calls for us to slow down and return to earth. It’s time for a new beginning, but we’re not starting from scratch. Look at what you achieved in 2022, and most importantly, how. Reflect on where Chariot energy impacted your year and instances where the Queen led the way, and taking the strongest and most beneficial aspects of those situations into consideration, work with the Page to build something new. As you set intentions for 2023, hold onto that grounded and sensible energy of the Page. Listen to your heart.
After riding on Queen energy for so long, it may feel that setting less grand intentions is taking a step back, but the Page is all about solid foundation. Once you’ve got those blocks in place, you can aspire to Queen, and then King status again.
A thought-provoking read to see out 2022. I can certainly see where Chariot energy impacted my year, and will admit to feeling pretty drained by clinging to that Queen energy. But the message of the Page makes sense. If we can admit to what’s no longer serving us, release it, and pare back to basics, a clearer horizon will open before us. Remember; after the Page comes active Knight energy, so once we’ve formed a solid and practical plan, we can move into the doing again.
That’s it, my creative friends! I wish each and every one of you peace, health, and abundance. Here’s to 2023 and a year of wild, expansive, and productive creativity!
