Hello, Creatives!
Tomorrow brings the final New Moon of 2023. A new moon is the perfect time to hit the reset button and set new intentions, but as the moon is in its darkest phase, it can also be a time of cloaking, leaving the path forward difficult to see. This week’s Tarot for Creatives reading examines what may be hidden at this time by asking: What is visible, What is hidden, Where to look.
The World and its message of completion opens this week's Tarot for Creatives reading. An apt card for this time of year when many of us are working hard to complete projects before the year ends. We’re more conscious of cycles at this time of year; another holiday season approaches and the new year is around the corner. With these time markers, we reflect on what has changed in the last twelve months. What has evolved for you? What achievements, personal and professional, are you proud of? There may be disappointments, too.
Although this cycle is drawing to a close, a new one nears, one full of opportunities. Wins and losses are visible at this time, and woven amongst them, the wisdom and skills you’ve developed along the way. Take a moment to reflect on what you’ve learned this past year, and as the new cycle approaches, use those gifts for expansion. The time just after the new moon is ripe with manifesting energy, so take this opportunity to sow the seeds of intention for the next cycle.
“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” - Aristotle
The High Priestess is the lady of mystery in tarot. Appearing in the What is Hidden position, she asks us to connect with our intuition as the answers we seek lie within. At this time of year, our focus is drawn to the external world. As we rush about preparing for the holidays, stressing over gifts and food, the quiet voice within gets drowned out. The High Priestess calls for balance. Adjust the scales by taking quiet time to yourself. Frantic action won’t deliver the resolution you need, your inner guidance will.
The next time you find yourself making a decision, pause to assess how you reached that decision. Was it with logic or gut instinct? And what was the outcome? Did you ignore intuition over logic? The High Priestess asks us to embody feminine energy this week. Be gentle, less reactive, and more introspective. ‘Feel’ your way through decision making and interactions with others. Allow intuition to guide you with creative endeavours, even if takes you into new territory. That which is hidden lies within. You simply need to gift yourself the space and silence to hear it.
A double call for time out and meditation this week!
A second message of introspection comes with the 4 of Cups. Echoing the High Priestess, the answer to ‘Where to Look’, is once again, ‘Within.’ Hit pause and reflect before making decisions this week. If possible, you may even choose to postpone your answer until the new year.
Disinterest may surround you at this time; a lack of motivation, the weight of lethargy, and perhaps even emotional disconnect. At this busy time, it’s not uncommon, but to find the root of the apathy, you’ll need to look within. Fours are cards of balance, so rest assured, foundations are strong and your world is not about to crumble if you take a time out. The 4 of Cups is often depicted with a figure resting in nature. Take that as a hint to disconnect from the madness of the holiday season and gift yourself breathing space. Your intangible internal energy needs reviving. Once it has, you’ll find clarity and move into a new cycle where nothing remains hidden.
A loud and clear call for us to look within this week. Whatever is hidden at this time, we won’t find the answers externally. With a cycle drawing to a close, take time to rest and reflect. Once we’re powered up and reconnected to our inner voice, the path ahead will be brightly illuminated.
Have a wonderful week, creative souls!
