Today, August 19th 2024, brings us a Full Moon in Aquarius, and not only is this Full Moon a Blue Moon (the fourth of the current season) it’s also a Supermoon, so will appear larger in the sky. This Aquarius Full Moon will bring unexpected changes and surprises, and stemming from that, a need for patience as we adapt to a new course. This week’s Tarot for Creatives looks at what’s incoming by asking: How may I be impacted by change, What may surprise me, How can I best adapt to a new cycle.
The 8 of Wands brings movement, a swift advancement that instigates change. Brace for sudden shifts and surprises this week, it’s definitely a case of ‘Buckle Up!’ when 8 of Wands energy swishes by.
Expect speedy progress. It may seem as if everything is abruptly falling into place, and as it does, excitement and passion rise, impacting creativity, romantic relationships, and travel. The 8 of Wands is a fiery, courageous energy, happy to explore a new adventure. It has a stimulating effect, so you may find creative inspiration boosted. Synchronising beautifully with the Aquarius Full Moon, the 8 heralds surprises and important messages, all of which surround creativity, love, and travel.

Temperance is all about finding that sweet-spot, that place of balance when it comes to moving through our days. With the 8 of Wands head-spinning movement, Temperance adds a welcome touch of calm, meaning we may find ourselves surprised at how easily we handle the abrupt changes.
Temperance also brings wisdom, so as you reflect on what’s in the near past, acknowledge what you’ve learned and can now carry forward. Would more conscientious decisions favour you in the future?
Patience is another theme of this card. As Temperance pours water from one cup to another, she appears placid; the opposite to the 8 of Wands. Avoid rushing this week. Gentle steps will allow you to move with greater control. Finally, if you’ve been under the weather lately, Temperance brings a message of healing.
The Empress asks us to embody her energy of nurturing in order to adapt to change. Nurture both new experiences, relationships, and projects—but nurture yourself, too.
This feminine energy is powerful. Although she epitomises motherhood and fertility, The Empress is a warrior. Connected to Venus, and typically illustrated in the passionate and fiery colours of red, here’s a Mama Bear who won’t tolerate threats. If unsettled by unexpected shifts, The Empress reminds us that all we need, we possess. Our fertile minds have the power to manifest whatever we desire, and coupled with passionate, courageous energy of The Empress, we’ll shift into the required gear without falter. A tender warrior is one of the best ways to describe this card. Echoing the calm of Temperance, it’s another call for a calm head when those around you may be spinning.
Temperance and The Empress are here to defend us against the wild movement of the 8 of Wands, which coupled with the Full Moon in Aquarius, will instigate major energy shifts this week. By heeding their wise words calling for calm and nurturing, we’ll sail through the changing tides. Here’s to a wild week, Creative Souls!
