Tarot for Creatives 22nd to 28th January 2024

Hello, Creatives!

After a wicked night of stormy weather here in Ireland, the day has dawned calmer and brighter. Thankfully, Storm Isha blew through my neighbourhood without causing too much damage, but the park where I walk was closed this morning as many trees fell overnight. Storms like this remind me of Tower energy; an unstoppable force sweeping in and shaking everything to its core. But once it departs, it grants us the space to step into a new day—even if it does mean climbing over rubble!

7 of Pentacles, Queen of Pentacles, Ace of Swords. Deck: Ethereal Visions Illuminated Tarot

No questions for today; I’ll just let the cards deliver their message.

The dedicated 7 of Pentacles opens with a message of perseverance. Focus lies on business and work-related matters, with an understanding that progress isn’t always visible. As the gardener tends his crop, he knows the plant roots are busy beneath the soil, working hard to produce a bountiful harvest. Patience is called for with this card. Tend to your projects; even if it’s just a little watering or weeding, and know that the effort you’ve put in so far will soon pay dividends. If hours have opened up to you, consider using them for further development. The studious 8 follows the 7 of Pentacles, so consider how you can best use this possible quiet time to continue building towards your goals while you wait for your harvest.

“The feminine energy itself is undirected but immense, like the wind and deep currents of the ocean; ever changing, beautiful, destructive, and the source of life.” - David Deida

The Queen of Pentacles elevates our earthly pursuits, advancing us all the way from the patient 7 to a space where we find balance with nurturing our businesses, careers, family, and creative pursuits. The Queen creates a warm, welcoming home, keeps the wheels of her business running, and ensures all around her are cared for and nurtured. It’s a lovely card to see after the 7 of Pentacles, promising that perseverance will bring us rewards. A pair of Pentacles bring grounded, practical energy, but the Queen’s feminine energy also encourages creative thinking, so don’t be afraid to think outside the box as you work your Queen magic.

Here comes the Ace of Swords, bringing a message of mental clarity! The Ace of Swords is that a-ha! moment when the lightbulb flicks on. Decisive action is needed to move ahead, but remember that when you swing that Sword, not only will you cut away confusion and presumptions, but you may lead yourself into conflict. Not everyone will see the shiny new idea quite like you do, so be mindful of this as you pivot into a new direction. Be cautious with your interactions. Your idea may be monumental, but if you can’t find the right way to explain it, then it may remain nothing more than the metaphorical lightbulb. The Ace is an idea in its purest, most exciting form. To turn it into a reality, lean into the perseverance and nurturing of the 7 and the Queen so it can take shape.

Lots of practical advice with this week’s reading. Persevere with projects, nurture yourself and others, and when you get that wonderful breakthrough idea, be mindful of how you proceed—because you must proceed if you wish to see it materialise!
