Tarot for Creatives 16th to 22nd December 2024

Hello, Creatives!

I’m back after a break that went on longer than planned thanks to a rotten dose that left me in bed for a few days last week. But I’m recovered now, so normal service has resumed.

Later this week I’m visiting friends in Kerry to celebrate the Winter Solstice, and once I’m home, it’ll be straight into Christmas. I’m looking forward to the break, especially for the opportunity to take some much needed quiet time for next year’s content planning. I’m hoping to hold online meditation circles, tarot classes, and other workshops, and once I have news of what’s on offer, I’ll share the info here and via the newsletter.

For now, let’s dive into this week’s Tarot for Creatives reading. I got the intuitive nudge to read with the Traffic Light spread this morning, so the cards are exploring What needs to stop, Where should I proceed with caution, and Where can I go, go, go!

5 of Cups, 3 of Cups, Page of Swords. Deck: Tarot de la Nuit.

We open with the 5 of Cups, a gloomy card focused on loss. Appearing in the Stop position, it indicates the need to shift out of a lack or grief mindset.

Grief is an important process, and it’s vital to sit with our feelings when we’re suffering loss, but the time has come to take a brave step forward. What absence are you focused on right now? While this card isn’t a call to neglect your heart, it is a sign to remind yourself of the good things in your life.

Lack is the other aspect of this card. When we’re totally focused on what we don’t have, we lose sight of what we do have, so right now, take a moment to count three blessings. What’s also worth considering how we’re currently approaching the end of 2024 and may be taking stock of achievements at this time. Be mindful of focusing on what was achieved, as opposed to mourning what wasn’t! Finally, this card is also a reminder that your past does not define your future, so let that water flow under the bridge and move on!

“Holding on is believing that there’s only a past. Letting go is knowing there’s a future.” - Daphne Rose Kingma

It’s apt to see the 3 of Cups at this time of year when celebrations are aplenty. This is the card of fun, abundance, and creativity, but appearing in the Proceed with Caution position, it indicates a need to find balance between work and play.

Have you neglected responsibilities of late? Has the merriment of the season pulled you away from important tasks? Quality time with friends, family, and tribe is important, but this card is a call to be aware of over-indulgence, interference from other people in your affairs, or simply neglecting duties in favour of fun.

With the gloomy 5 of Cups at the rear, the temptation to bury grief or disappointment with indulgence might be tempting, so watch out for that tendency. As we have a Swords card within the spread, it might be worth making a final to-do list before the holidays to ensure nothing important is missed. Fun and celebration is deserved, but the message here is to maintain balance.

Stay alert, and cut through the BS!

Important news comes with the Page of Swords, potentially bringing an unexpected change which requires alertness. The Go message here is to take a stance to solve a problem or conflict. When an issue arises, tackle it. Mental agility will serve you well, so engage your smarts to get the best outcome.

As mentioned before, now is also a good time to get clear on future goals. Pages are inquisitive and love to explore, so use this energy for forward planning. Because Pages also enjoy learning, it might be beneficial to plan upskilling or even new skills for 2025.

There’s a certain dynamism that comes with Pages—especially the Page of Swords who loves to cut through the BS to get to the truth of things, so don’t be afraid to speak your mind and ask for clarity if there’s a muddy issue. Lovers of a good challenge, the Page also suggests stimulating your mind with something new. In summary, you’ve got the green light to proceed with smart thinking, curiosity, and the confidence to cut the cords of anything that no longer serves!

The reading certainly resonates with me personally this week as I’m definitely feeling that distracting 3 of Cups energy. It’s great to see the influence of the Page of Swords coming in, bringing an energy of focus sprinkled with enthusiasm. It’s a helpful boost as plans for 2025 come together. What do you think? I’ll be back next with the final Tarot for Creative for 2024!
